Glossary

Social media terms, in plain English.

No jargon for its own sake — just clear definitions of the terms worth knowing.

Build in public
Building in public means sharing the journey of building your product or company openly — the progress, decisions, numbers and setbacks — as it happens, rather than only announcing the finished result.
Cross-posting
Cross-posting means publishing the same content, or a version of it, to more than one social network — ideally tailored to each platform rather than copy-pasted identically.
Engagement rate
Engagement rate is the share of people who interact with a post — likes, comments, shares, saves — relative to how many saw it or follow you, expressed as a percentage. It measures resonance, not just reach.
Evergreen content
Evergreen content is content that stays relevant and useful long after it's published — how-to guides, explainers and principles — as opposed to timely content tied to a moment that quickly dates.
