Auto·Cue for Bluesky: A Local-First Bluesky Scheduler

Updated 4 November 2026

Bluesky is one of the few networks with no built-in scheduler at all — and it’s where a lot of the build-in-public crowd now lives. Auto·Cue fills that gap without asking you to hand your account to a cloud service.

It’s a desktop app that schedules Bluesky from your own machine: your posts, your calendar and your Bluesky app password stay on your device, in your operating system’s keychain. Nothing is uploaded to a server we run — your content leaves your device only at the moment a post publishes to Bluesky.

What Auto·Cue does for Bluesky

  • Queue and schedule. Write a week — or a month — of posts in one sitting and drop them onto a calendar, instead of opening the app every time you want to say something.
  • Proper rich text. Bluesky encodes links, mentions and hashtags as facets (byte-range annotations). Auto·Cue calculates them correctly, so your links are actually clickable and your mentions resolve.
  • The 300-grapheme limit, counted as you type. That’s user-perceived characters, not bytes — Auto·Cue counts them the way Bluesky does.
  • App passwords, kept local. Connect with a revocable app password that’s stored in your keychain and never leaves your machine.
  • Custom PDS support. Point at your own server if you run a self-hosted instance.

Own it, don’t rent it

Auto·Cue is a one-time purchase, not a subscription — and because the AI that drafts post suggestions runs locally, your content isn’t sent off to a third-party model. It’s the local-first alternative to the cloud schedulers: you keep your data, you keep your tool. See the honest trade-offs on our Buffer alternative and Hootsuite alternative pages.

Frequently asked questions

Is Auto·Cue a good Bluesky scheduler?
Auto·Cue is built for the person running their own Bluesky account rather than a team. It schedules and queues posts from your own machine, stores your app password in your OS keychain rather than on a server, and handles Bluesky's rich-text facets so links and mentions work. If you want a tool you own and data that stays local, it's a strong fit.
Does Auto·Cue use my Bluesky password?
No. You connect Bluesky with an app password — a separate, revocable credential you create under Settings → App Passwords. Auto·Cue stores it in your operating system's keychain and never transmits it to any server.
Can Auto·Cue post to a custom PDS or self-hosted Bluesky?
Yes. Bluesky runs on the AT Protocol, and Auto·Cue lets you point at a user-configurable PDS rather than only bsky.social, so a self-hosted instance works.
Will Auto·Cue post to Bluesky when my computer is off?
No. Auto·Cue runs on your machine, so scheduled Bluesky posts go out while it's on and online. That's the trade for keeping your posts and credentials off third-party servers.
